The 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output Straight-Six Turbo engine in the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten has been named to the 2024 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list.
This marks the second recognition for the Hurricane engine family and the eighth consecutive year Stellantis has earned this accolade. The 3.0-liter Hurricane engines are produced at Stellantis’ Saltillo Engine Plant in Mexico.
Delivering 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque, the Hurricane engine offers superior performance, fuel efficiency, and lower emissions compared to traditional V-8 engines. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine enhances the driving experience, whether for towing or off-road adventures.
“The Hurricane delivers powerful performance while improving fuel economy,” said Bob Gritzinger, Wards editor-in-chief.
The Hurricane engine is part of Stellantis’ strategic plan for versatile powertrain options, including internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles, aligning with their Dare Forward 2030 initiative.
