Honda has started production of the all-new 2025 Honda CR-V e, a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. This marks the first FCEV made in America, featuring a U.S.-made fuel cell system with plug-in EV charging capability.
The CR-V e offers a 270-mile EPA driving range and up to 29 miles of EV driving, combining the benefits of fast hydrogen refueling and EV convenience.
Patrick McIntyre, lead of PMC, highlighted the craftsmanship and technical expertise of the production team. The fuel cell system, developed in collaboration with General Motors, reportedly offers higher efficiency and reduced costs. The CR-V e also features advanced assembly processes, new welding systems, and innovative paint applications to ensure quality and durability.
The production milestone aligns with Honda’s goal of carbon neutrality and the establishment of its Honda EV Hub in Ohio. The company continues to invest in EV and hydrogen technologies, aiming for 100% battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicle sales by 2040.
