Mercedes-Benz has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to integrate AI-driven conversational search into its MBUX Virtual Assistant.
Here’s what’s happening: Powered by Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, the system enables drivers to engage in natural, multi-turn conversations for navigation and point-of-interest searches.
The feature leverages Google Maps Platform, offering real-time access to detailed information on 250 million global locations. Drivers can ask questions like “Guide me to the nearest fine-dining restaurant” and receive follow-ups on reviews or signature dishes. The enhanced navigation experience debuts in the new Mercedes-Benz CLA later this year.
This collaboration underscores the shift to software-defined mobility, with Google’s Gemini AI models providing advanced voice assistant capabilities. Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, highlighted the partnership’s role in delivering personalized, seamless in-car experiences.
