BorgWarner has announced a partnership with General Motors to deliver the largest twin turbochargers for the Corvette ZR1, enhancing the vehicle’s 5.5-liter V8 engine to deliver 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque.
The advanced turbochargers feature a 76mm compressor wheel, 67mm turbine wheel, and patented decoupled ball bearing system, enabling faster response, durability, and reduced noise.
Drawing from its NTT INDYCAR SERIES experience, BorgWarner provides the Corvette ZR1 with cutting-edge technology, including an exhaust manifold with equal-length runners for optimized performance.
Designed and manufactured in the U.S., the turbochargers boast zero-clearance heat shielding for high-temperature endurance and incorporate a blade pass speed sensor for maximum turbo capability. The Corvette ZR1 is set to become the most powerful in its history.
