General Motors is recalling close to 462,000 diesel SUVs and pickups in the U.S. due to a faulty transmission control valve that may lead to rear-wheel lockup, raising crash risks. Affected models include Silverado, Sierra, Escalade, and Yukon from 2020-2022.
Here’s what’s at stake: Owners of certain GM SUVs and pickups may experience harsh shifting due to a transmission control valve issue. If the valve wears over time, it can lead to a momentary rear-wheel lockup, according to GM and documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Impacted models include Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Cadillac Escalade from 2020-2022. Dealers will install new software to monitor the valve and reduce lockup risks. Notification letters to affected owners are set to be mailed by December 9.
