Seoul Robotics has successfully launched the first LiDAR-controlled traffic signal system in the United States at the intersection of State Street and 5900 South in Murray, Utah.
This innovative system, initiated by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), uses LiDAR sensor data to optimize traffic flow and enhance safety.
Leveraging Seoul Robotics’ 3D Perception Engine, the system creates a digital twin of the intersection to manage traffic signals, detect and track vehicles and pedestrians, and operate efficiently under all weather conditions. The project was a collaborative effort with Gades Sales Company and Blue Band, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and traffic controllers.
Since its installation in March 2024, the system has demonstrated 99.8% vehicle counting accuracy and advanced detection capabilities, significantly improving traffic management. Seoul Robotics’ solution can be deployed rapidly, with minimal disruption, and aims to expand its revolutionary technology to more intersections nationwide.
