Bosch Rexroth is spearheading efforts to create a nationwide hydrogen filling station network, collaborating with partners to develop advanced compressor drives.
Highlighting its commitment at Hannover Messe 2024, the company will showcase its drive systems designed for the efficient operation of hydrogen stations, crucial for the success of hydrogen as a CO2-free fuel alternative.
The European Union mandates the installation of hydrogen stations in urban nodes and every 200 km along its transport network by 2030. The USA, aiming for 4,300 hydrogen stations by 2030, underscores this global shift. Bosch Rexroth’s solutions enable refueling of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) with 100 kg of hydrogen in under 10 minutes, facilitating 1,000 km of travel.
Robust compressor drives are pivotal, storing hydrogen at -253°C or 700-900 bar. Partnerships, like that with FirstElement Fuel in California, have yielded technologies such as a cryopump capable of compressing 600 kg of liquid hydrogen per hour.
By 2025, Bosch Rexroth’s innovations will equip the first stations, supporting numerous daily refueling operations and aiming for a €5 billion turnover by 2030.
