Volvo Trucks North America has secured its first major order for the all-new Volvo VNL, with Legend Transportation purchasing 50 VNL 860 trucks.
The trucks will be produced at Volvo’s New River Valley Assembly Operations in Dublin, Virginia, and will feature top-of-the-line safety and comfort technologies.
Legend Transportation, founded by Baveljit “Sunny” Samara, emphasized the advanced safety features of the VNL, including the Volvo Active Driver Assist (VADA) package, which offers forward collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control. The VNL also boasts a forward pedestrian detection system and a quieter, more efficient Volvo Parking Cooler.
Volvo Trucks’ president, Peter Voorhoeve, praised Legend’s early adoption, highlighting the significant customer value in safety, fuel efficiency, connectivity, and driver productivity. Samara noted the importance of these features for driver recruitment and retention.
The order marks a significant step in Volvo’s ‘Towards Zero’ vision, aiming for zero accidents involving their trucks.
