Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) has introduced 21 new Ford E-Transit electric vans into its fleet, marking a significant step towards its ASPIRE 2045 sustainability goals.

This addition aligns with SoCalGas’ commitment to replace 50% of its fleet with alternative fuel vehicles by 2025 and achieve a 100% zero-emissions fleet by 2035.

At the end of 2023, 38% of SoCalGas’ over-the-road fleet operated on low- and zero-emissions energy sources. The current fleet includes 700 RNG Ford F-250 trucks and 50 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

“The addition of Ford’s E-Transit vans represents a significant achievement in SoCalGas’ advancement toward a zero-emissions future,” said Sandra Hrna, vice president of supply chain and operations support at SoCalGas.

SoCalGas is also installing EV chargers throughout its territory and plans to expand to 1,500 chargers across 65 sites over the next two years. This initiative supports California’s climate goals and SoCalGas’ aim to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2045.
