Polaris Inc. and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) have inaugurated the nation’s first off-road electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
This pioneering project, funded by a $700,000 Mobility Public-Private Partnership & Programming (MP4) grant, supports 100 miles of scenic trails.
The charging network features four stations located in Ontonagon, White Pine, Bergland, and Greenland, enhancing accessibility for EV enthusiasts. These stations, provided by Yotta Energy, offer scalable solar-powered solutions capable of operating off-grid.
In conjunction with this development, Polaris Adventures Outfitter in Ontonagon is the first in the U.S. to rent the all-electric RANGER XP Kinetic, allowing visitors to explore the Pioneer ORV Trail using sustainable technology.
“This initiative marks a significant milestone in our journey towards electrification and sustainable outdoor recreation,” stated Andrew Chasse, VP of Strategy and Partnerships at Polaris.
